What is Secondary Packaging?

Secondary packaging surrounds or groups primary packages and provides additional protection during handling and distribution. Examples include cartons, boxes, shrink wraps, and multipack containers. It can also provide branding, product information, and easier warehouse handling. Secondary packaging is frequently used in FMCG, food, pharmaceutical, and consumer goods. It forms an important layer between individual product packaging and bulk transportation packaging.
